In 2018, a century after the end of World War I, a small town near Wakefield honored its dead with a 20-foot sculpture of a horse composed of wood. Around 353 soldiers from Featherstone died during the war. Crosses located around the horse to honor the soldiers were also accompanied by a small tree. The memorial is entitled “War Horse, A Place of Peace To Be Together,” and was made possible with a £50,000 grant.
