Provost Martin Schmidt named president of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute

MIT Provost Martin Schmidt has been named as the 19th president of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, the nation’s oldest technological research university. Schmidt, who earned his BS in electrical engineering at RPI in 1981, will assume its presidency on July 1, 2022.
