The National Science Foundation has awarded $750,000 to a team of researchers led by MIT Comparative Media Studies/Writing Associate Professor Justin Reich to test methods of improving information literacy among populations usually overlooked in such work. Reich and his collaborators are concerned about citizens’ skills in distinguishing truth from distortions or untruths in informing their decisions.
