Driving up the mountains through the mist, this magnificent chapel looms over visitors as they park their vehicle in Peneda-Gerês National Park. According to local lore, an apparition of the Virgin Mary appeared at the site of the chapel to a young shepherd. The current sanctuary was constructed during the 18th or 19th-century.
