Although the city has not officially decided to promote or protect this location, thanks to the hard work of locals such as Mike Odell, Adam Marsh, and others, a grant was secured to work with the National Park Service to complete an environmental assessment of this area. In October 2015, the city council awarded a contract to Flagstaff-based American Conservation Experience to design and construct sustainable trails, retaining walls, water bars, and switchback details across the site.
