Orinoro Gorge in Leppävirta, Finland

A wonder of Savo Region, the Orinoro Gorge was carved out by glaciers during the last Ice Age. Paths constructed of wooden planks wind their way through nearly 700 feet (200 meters) of sliced rock faces, before looping around and leading upward to offer a bird’s eye view from the 65-foot (20-meter) high ridges.  Sounds carry through the gorge like echoes in a cave. Chirping birds and skittering creatures are amplified off the ricochetting walls.
